I was born and raised in Houston, TX the oldest of nine children (at least one of my siblings calls me "Mama Bear"). I graduated from Jack Yates Senior High School and from Lamar University in Beaumont, TX with a Bachelors of Science degree in Communication (focused on Broadcasting). I have always had a great curiosity for still photography. The first person I remember complimenting a photo I shot is my grandmother. I took some pictures of her and my grandfather on the celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary. All of the photos that were taken that day are in a photo album at her home, except for one, that she had blown up and framed. It happens to be one that I took of them together right before we all left to go to the event hall where dinner was going to be held. She told me, "This was the best picture that was taken that night." That may not seem very impactful for someone else, but that actually sparked something in me. I knew taking pictures was something I wanted to make a part of my life from then on.
I've gone into different realms of photography, including weddings, product, youth sports, forums, makeup, food (that I've made myself and shot) family reunions, candids and nature shots. I will always allow myself to explore different aspects of photography since I never want to limit myself in the field. It is something that I will always make room for in my life.
I'm at a point in my life where I want to find a way to utilize every talent I have to create the best and healthiest life for myself and my family. Along with being a photographer, I'm a mother (which makes me a natural teacher and nurturer), a life partner and homemaker. I've started getting into making all natural skin products as well, such as body butter and bath salts. I also love to cook and create things and use plant-based ingredients when doing so. I love using herbs in what I cook and make. some of my current life goals are to study herbalism and different forms of natural health, self care and healing. I'm on a journey of realizing and appreciating all things in their organic nature.
As long as I'm in this realm of existence, I'm willing to learn all I can about everything that the universe makes available to me. I intend to do everything in my power to help make this area I live in, this planet I live on and its inhabitants better.
PEACE & LIGHT
