Chayote Squash is now what I consider one of my staple vegetables because I don't go to the grocery store without buying it. I use in a lot of my dishes when I cook other veggies. To me, it doesn't have a particular taste, but it does have a distinctive texture, for it to be considered a squash. It sort of has the same texture as a pear, but with a veggie flavor. Some of the benefits of chayote are that it helps with losing weight, lowering cholesterol and high blood pressure, preventing anemia, heart disease and premature aging, and it helps with treating kidney stones. It's a rich source of nutrients like fiber, iron, manganese, antioxidants and other trace minerals. Add chayote to your food list!
