The only onion I purchase now...red onions contain more antioxidants than white and yellow onions, and they lower triglycerides and LDL cholesterol levels while boosting HDL levels. They help improve membrane function in red blood cells and oxygen utilization, cardiovascular function and fat metabolism. They are also rich in chromium, which lowers blood sugar and increases sensitivity to cellular insulin. They can neutralize the growth of cancer cells and reduce inflammation in different parts of the body. I use these in just about everything I cook.
