Tamarind is a fruit that is indigenous to tropical Africa but grown in other places like India and Pakistan. It grows in the shape of bean pods and tastes like sour candy. The seeds are also edible. It has polyphenols that have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which can protect against things like heart disease, cancer and diabetes. Tamarind helps lower blood pressure and is a blood thinner, so be careful not to consume this while using other blood thinners or eat in excess. It can also improve digestion, circulation and nerve function, aide in weight loss, and boost immunity.
